Doylestown was once the focal point of a county-wide electric railway network, with three trolley lines converging at Monument Square. The first line, built in 1898, followed Easton Road south through Edison and Warrington to Willow Grove Park. Another line followed Pebble Hill Road, through Newtown and Yardley to Trenton. The last line, opened to the public in 1904, connected Doylestown with Easton.
